WE HEAR, BUT DO WE LISTEN?

ON CONTENTIOUS TRANSITIONAL ISSUES IN DIVORCE
AFCC Annual Conference
Boston, Massachusetts ( June 8, 2024)
"If you are involved in divorce with minor children, you need to not only watch this video, but use the information to help you get through your divorce in a positive way, not just for you, but the entire family."
“The Point C Video is nothing short of brilliant. It tells the story of a child going through a High Conflict Divorce and the legacy it leaves for both the child and the parents. Every person going through a divorce needs to see it.”
“Lawrence and Joni Jones have created a poignant portrayal of the damage that high conflict divorce can have on our children. This movie is so powerful, I believe even the most unhinged, reactive parent will pause to consider their actions before engaging in hostile disputes that tear their children apart. Keep the focus on yourself as it only takes one calm and conscious parent to choose the child centric path to protect your children from harm.”
“As a divorce professional and someone who has been through a contentious separation in which children were involved, Point C is the resource I wish I had had at the onset of my separation. I now recommend Point C to not only my clients but my colleagues. Point C is eye-opening, thought-provoking, and an invaluable tool. Cannot recommend Point C highly enough.”
"This video is a must-see for anyone going through divorce. With a catchy song and poignant animation, the point (C) is driven straight to the heart."

Its engaging animation and narrative skillfully highlight the unintended emotional harm children can suffer in these situations. This video serves as a poignant reminder for parents to consider their children’s well-being and offers valuable insights for lawyers, mediators, and mental health experts. ‘Point C’ is more than just a video; it’s an essential tool promoting empathy and a child-focused approach in difficult family transitions. I highly recommend it for its powerful message and impact.”colleagues. Point C is eye-opening, thought-provoking, and an invaluable tool. Cannot recommend Point C highly enough.”

In our talk with Brook, we, Joni and Lawrence Jones of Point C, shared our unique legal and mental health backgrounds. We discussed Point C's mission: empowering parents and professionals to focus on children's well-being during high-conflict separations or divorces. We highlighted the unintentional harm parents can cause and advocated for respectful approaches, emphasizing our commitment to healthier family dynamics in difficult times.
In high-conflict divorces, we've seen custody battles where parents, despite good intentions but emotionally dysregulated, inadvertently harm their children. Our goal is to highlight the children's trauma in such conflicts and advocate for a mindful approach. We urge parents to self-regulate and truly prioritize their children's well-being, moving beyond personal pain and reactions and emphasizing emotional health in these tough times.
In our talk with Nikki Parkinson, we combined our legal and mental health expertise to discuss Point C, a tool aiding families in divorce and separation. We covered its creation, importance for parents, and impact on children amid parental conflict. We offered strategies for effective co-parenting and tips for post-divorce family dynamics, aiming to guide those on this emotional journey.
We recently joined Kate Anthony on her podcast, The Divorce Survival Guide! We delved into the world of Point C Divorce. For well-intentioned parents caught in the complexities of family conflicts, we devised Point C Divorce as a solution. The goal is clear: to minimize the effects of fiercely contested divorce battles on children, placing kids at the heart of every divorce.
In this episode, Lawrence and Joni share their unique perspective on the impact of divorce on children. They also offer tips on supporting your children and avoiding unintentionally hurting them during their divorce journey.
In an interview with Lawrence Jones, former New Jersey Superior Court Judge, he discusses "Point C," a five-minute video designed to help parents and family law professionals understand how contentious divorces can emotionally harm children. Point C encourages self-reflection and compromise for the sake of children's well-being, emphasizing peaceful behavior during divorce proceedings. Jones offers practical strategies for parents to minimize conflict.
The Academy of Professional Family Mediators is alert to the adverse impact that contentious divorce proceedings can have on the emotional wellbeing of children, in some cases continuing well into their adult years.
Point C's mission strongly aligns with AFCC's objective of minimizing the adverse effects on children involved in the divorce process. One of the innovative approaches utilized by Point C is the creation of this catchy video, designed to encourage parents to introspectively reflect on their choices and the potential impact on their children. Thank you for your dedication, Lawrence!
